Alegria's founder, Sarah, started her jewelry company because she wanted to provide safe and dignified work with livable wages for the women of Honduras.
Sarah's parents started an orphanage in Honduras called Faith Home in 1998. Through this experience, she was able to have a front row seat to the country's rich culture, but also saw the difficulties and struggles of a developing country. When her 23-year career as a jewelry consultant came to an end, the people of Honduras were heavy on her heart. She wanted to help the women find safe and dignified work with livable wages.
This is when Alegria was born. Alegria means "joy" in Spanish. Their company makes beautiful, hand-crafted, artisan jewelry completely crafted by women in Honduras.
